Atlanta Braves News: AJ Minter update, Spencer Schwellenbach solid, more

Justin Toscano of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution provided a promising update on injured AJ Minter. The reliever had a bullpen session Monday and is expected to begin his rehab with the Rome Emperors on Saturday.

It’s been a mediocre season for the 30-year-old, who posted a 2.95 ERA in 25 games. The long ball has been a major problem, as he has already allowed five home runs.

He’s been on the injured list since May 30 with a hip injury, but hopefully he returns to form and gives the Braves some left-handed depth coming out of the bullpen.

More Braves news:

Spencer Schwellenbach had a strong start in Tuesday’s 2-1 win over the Detroit Tigers. He pitched six innings with just one run.
