Police in Casper search for hit-and-run driver

CASPER, Wyoming – Casper Police are asking our #community investigators for help in identifying the driver of this pickup truck that recently sped all over the place downtown.

Video from a camera on the roof of the Townsend Justice Center shows a pickup truck turning north from First Street into the 100 block of North Center Street, becoming seriously disabled, spraying sparks, spinning 90 degrees before clipping two flower pots and striking a light pole, which strikes the left side of the pickup behind the driver.

The light pole remained upright, but the lamps fell onto the sidewalk.

One of the flowerpots wobbled and stopped, but not long after the undeterred demolition derby man (or woman, the video isn’t that clear), now facing south toward North Center, noticed the directional error and put the pedal to the metal.

The driver drove around the road, made another 90-degree turn, corrected, braked sufficiently to get his bearings, and finally headed north.

The video is neither time nor date stamped, and the police press release did not state when the incident occurred.

The department is asking anyone with information about this crash to contact them.

These planters and light poles deserve justice.
