(KRON) — Alameda police seized a large stash of drugs from an unconscious motorist Tuesday. Police believe the seized amount is worth “thousands of dollars.”

According to police, the unconscious driver was found by a patrol officer on Shoreline Drive, where he had parked unconscious on the sidewalk. Police said paramedics were called, but the driver regained consciousness and was taken to a local hospital for further treatment.

Before a tow truck arrived to remove the car from the sidewalk, police found “significant amounts of suspected fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, Xanax, marijuana and kief/kush cookies.” The substances found were tested using a portable drug analyzer, police said.

The police also found “large amounts of cash, a scale, plastic bags and a weapon.”

Police said the driver was arrested for drunk driving, drug possession “and other offenses.”

“Our officers are trained to respond to dangerous incidents like this and ensure their safety and the safety of members of their community.”
