Norwood: Two in hospital after car crash on Jerome Avenue

According to FDNY/EMS, two people were hospitalized and a heavily damaged vehicle was seen following a car crash under the elevated tracks of the 4 train on Jerome Avenue in the Norwood section of the Bronx on Tuesday, June 18.

An emergency services spokesperson said emergency services received a call at 3.27pm on Tuesday evening, June 18, regarding a road accident on Jerome Avenue at East Mosholu Parkway South near the Mitchel Lama Tracey Towers residential complex.

They said two people were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital following the accident. We have also reached out to the NYPD for more details on the accident but have not been able to reach them as of today. We will update you with any further updates we receive.

In a separate incident, a 70-year-old pedestrian died when he was struck while crossing Bainbridge Avenue in Norwood on Thursday, June 6. Also reported, a pedestrian died when he was struck by a car while attempting to cross the Major Deegan Expressway at around 2:37 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, police said.

When investigating collisions, the NYPD handles the criminal aspects of the investigation, while the NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) inspects the roadway at the accident scene.

We also reported that on Sunday, June 9, two people were hospitalized following a separate multi-vehicle crash on Webster Avenue in Norwood.
