San Diego police investigate attempted kidnapping near Target store in Mission Valley – NBC 7 San Diego

San Diego police are investigating a report that a suspect attempted to abduct a girl near a Target store in Mission Valley Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred at 1288 Camino Del Rio North around 1:45 p.m.

According to San Diego police, the male suspect approached the child from behind and grabbed him by the shoulders.

According to police, the child was at Target with his parents and they called 911. However, it is unclear whether the incident occurred inside or outside the store.

The suspect fled on foot and then drove away in a car, said SDPD officer Colin Steinbroner.
