Warning: Fake Credit/EBT Card Reader Scam in Nevada County

The Nevada County Attorney’s Office and Nevada County Department of Social Services are warning the public and local retailers about a recent scam attempt that involves placing fake credit/EBT card readers in retail stores. These fraudulent devices are designed to steal card information and several accounts have already been compromised.

Attention, EBT cardholders: This scam specifically targets EBT cards and puts cardholders at significant risk. Please remain vigilant and report any unusual activity on your card immediately.
