Buffalo Bills lead charge for LGBTQ inclusion with new Flag Football League

The Buffalo Bills are making progress in promoting inclusiveness in support the launch of a new LGBTQ flag football league in the region. The team is proud to sponsor the league, which is created in collaboration with the National Gay Flag Football League (NGFFL).

NGFFL Commissioner Joel Horton expressed excitement about the addition of inclusive flag football to Buffalo, saying, “We are excited to bring inclusive flag football to Buffalo with the support of the Buffalo Bills. This exciting addition joins 27 other cities and more than 4,000 players, including straight allies, in the National Gay Flag Football League.

The Bills’ involvement reflects a growing trend of NFL teams supporting local LGBTQ flag football leagues. THE New England Patriots have a long-standing partnership with the Boston league, while the Los Angeles Rams were also instrumental in starting a local LGBTQ flag football league. Additionally, teams like New York Giants And Seattle Seahawks have been avid supporters of their respective local leagues.

Michelle Roberts, vice president of community impact for the Buffalo Bills, noted the team’s enthusiasm in joining the NFL and other clubs in supporting the NGFFL. Roberts said: “We are delighted to join the NFL and other league clubs in supporting the NGFFL. Through our sponsorship, we look forward to expanding the impact of NGFFL in our community.

LGBTQ flag football takes the field in Buffalo

The Bills’ initiative demonstrates the continued commitment of major sports organizations to creating inclusive spaces for the LGBTQ community. Despite opposition, these efforts continue to gain traction and support within the sports world.

The NGFFL has a rich history dating back to 2002 when he took his first steps with Gay Bowl I in Southern California, involving three cities: Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boston. Following this, a second Gay Bowl was held in San Francisco, expanding to include Atlanta, Chicago and San Diego. These events eventually led to the creation of the NGFFL.
