Alvin ISD Elementary School employee arrested for “inappropriate behavior” toward a student

ALVIN, Texas – An employee at Alvin ISD’s E.C. Mason Elementary School was arrested after being accused of behaving inappropriately toward a student.

Chason Bailey is accused of indecency with a child and inappropriate relationship between teacher and student. He is in the Brazoria County Jail on a $200,000 bond.

The district said Bailey was removed from campus when the allegations were made. An investigation was launched and Bailey resigned shortly afterwards.

Bailey was indicted by a Brazoria County grand jury and on Tuesday the county said it had been informed that warrants had been issued and Bailey had been arrested.

“We are extremely upset that an employee in our district would betray the trust our community has placed in him. These behaviors are completely contrary to our organization’s beliefs. “Parents have great confidence in our district and we will do everything we can to ensure such activities do not occur in the future,” the district said.

Alvin ISD is committed to keeping our parents and community informed on all matters that impact the safety of our students.

The district has been made aware of allegations that a staff member at E.C. Mason Elementary allegedly behaved inappropriately toward a student. Because this incident is an ongoing investigation by law enforcement and the Brazoria County District Attorney’s Office, we are able to share this information with our EC Mason family right now.

After the district was made aware of the allegations, the employee was immediately removed from campus and a formal investigation was launched. The affected student’s parents were contacted by district staff and made aware of the investigation. Shortly after the investigation began, the individual resigned and is no longer employed by Alvin ISD.

The Alvin ISD Police Department completed its investigation and submitted its findings to the Brazoria County District Attorney.

A Brazoria County grand jury indicted the individual on two felony counts. Yesterday, Alvin ISD received notification that warrants had been issued and the individual was arrested.

We are extremely upset that an employee in our district is violating the trust our community has placed in him. These behaviors are completely contrary to our organization’s beliefs. Parents have great confidence in our district and we will do everything we can to ensure that such activities do not occur in the future.
