Scorching temperatures continue throughout New Jersey

ALARM: The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for New Jersey until 6 a.m. Thursday. An extreme heat advisory is in effect until Sunday evening. An air quality advisory is also in effect.

The heat wave has New Jersey firmly in its grip and it will be a while before the air becomes more pleasant again.

The weather pattern remains the same. 500 miles east of our beaches in New Jersey, strong, beautiful weather is pushing very hot and humid air our way. I don’t think we’re talking record-breaking heat this week, but with the combination of heat AND humidity, it’s going to feel like we’re all walking around with a wet and warm blanket around our heads – in a sauna.

WEDNESDAY: Be careful and tread carefully in the heat. Tomorrow temperatures will reach just above 35 degrees. It will feel more like 38 degrees.

THURSDAY: The day will be hotter and probably more humid. I’m predicting a heat index between 100 and 105.

FRIDAY: The day will remain oppressively hot. Daytime highs will be 32 degrees Celsius, but it will feel like 41 degrees Celsius. The heat will continue over the weekend.

I would also like to point out that there could be some widely scattered thunderstorms Friday afternoon through the weekend. Don’t cancel any outdoor plans, but plan for a possible thunderstorm.

Soon: It will remain hot next week, but it will improve a little on Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures will drop below 32 degrees. They will still be above 30 degrees, which is above normal, just not as hot.
