House fire in West Overland under investigation

The cause of a house fire that occurred Monday night in southwest Scottsbluff is currently under investigation.

Shortly before 6 p.m., the Scottsbluff Fire Department was called to a structure fire in the 1900 block of West Overland.

Upon arrival, firefighters noticed heavy smoke, but located the main fire on the outside of the house.

Fire Chief Tom Schingle said the fire on the outside was quickly extinguished and then efforts began to contain the fire that had entered the house.

Fortunately, when the emergency services arrived, no one was in the house and no one was injured. The damage is estimated at about $25,000.
