Police arrest teenager after he was shot and killed during suspected drug deal

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Police have arrested a teenager after another teen was shot during an alleged drug deal in northeast Las Vegas.

According to police, officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to the 3900 block of North Nellis Boulevard, near North Las Vegas Boulevard, around 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, after reports of shots fired.


Officers were notified that a 15-year-old boy had been shot. Medical personnel transported him to a local hospital. Hospital personnel later pronounced him dead.

Investigators learned the victim was in the area to purchase narcotics. When he arrived, armed suspects approached the vehicle he was in and fired shots at the vehicle, police said.

Police identified a 14-year-old teenager as a suspect in the case. Police arrested him on Friday, June 14, and took him to the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center where he was charged with several serious crimes, including open murder with a deadly weapon.

The name of the juvenile suspect was not released at the time of publication due to his age.

The identity of the victim and the cause and manner of death will be disclosed
from the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
