One dead and one seriously injured after towing accident in Homewood

HOMEWOOD, Alabama (WIAT) – Authorities are investigating a fatal crash in Homewood that occurred Tuesday morning.

According to Sergeant John Carr of the Homewood Police Department, the accident occurred shortly before 11 a.m. on I-65 South near the Oxmoor Road exit.

A pickup truck was towing another truck when the driver lost control, left the road and overturned. The tow truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
