3 Houston Texans find themselves on a unique ‘best’ list

Time passes and he will leave us all at some point. So it should come as no surprise to some older readers to know that there are young men in the NFL and the Houston Texans in particular who qualify for a unique new roster. Pro Football Focus recently released a new list, in which they compiled an NFL All-2000 team.

But even if you expect names like Andre Johnson, LaDainian Tomlinson, Brian Urlacher and others, who aren’t on this list? No, these players on this All 2000s list are not stars of the 2000s, but players born in the 2000s. That’s right, prepare to feel old.

On this young roster, we have three representing the Houston Texans. CJ Stroud starts at quarterback on this NFL All-2000 team. The young Ohio State quarterback was born in October 2001, when some of us were just starting high school. Stroud is easily one of, if not the best young quarterbacks in the league. At least any quarterback 25 and under.

He’s not the only Texas player to make the list, and he’s not even the only current player to win the Rookie of the Year award. Joining Stroud on this list is his 2023 NFL Draft contemporary, Will Anderson Jr. Like Stroud, Anderson was also born in 2001, although he is about a month older, having been born in September of that year.

Finally, we still have a third player to make this list. He is the oldest man of the three, but not by much. Although he was drafted in 2022, a year before Stroud and Anderson, Derek Stingley Jr. shares a birth year with his fellow budding star players. Stingley was born in July 2001, making him the oldest of the three players on this team, but only by a few months.

The Texans currently have some of the best young talent in the league. It’s going to be interesting to see how each of these three young men continue to grow and develop. Hopefully one day we can talk about how good they are as they move toward the Hall of Fame. Wouldn’t that be something?
