Connecticut residents mistakenly receive notification of 911 outage in Massachusetts – NBC Connecticut

There was a 911 outage across Massachusetts on Tuesday. However, according to the Connecticut State Department of Emergency Services at Public Protection, some Connecticut residents mistakenly received a notification on their cell phones this afternoon.

“For clarification for those who received the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA): There is NOT a 911 outage in Connecticut. The Wireless Emergency Alert you received was for Massachusetts,” the CTDEMHS posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Emergency officials in Maine said the alert level was accidentally expanded to other nearby states. FEMA is currently investigating how this happened.

The 911 system in Massachusetts was back online around 3:45 p.m.
