Justin Timberlake arrested for drunk driving in the Hamptons

Justin Timberlake was arrested overnight in the Hamptons for drunk driving.

The 43-year-old singer was driving a 2025 BMW shortly after midnight on Tuesday when he ignored a stop sign and did not stay in his lane, according to a press release from Sag Harbor Police. The officer who stopped him found that he was “operating his vehicle while intoxicated.”

Timberlake appeared in court on Tuesday morning and was later released from police custody, according to a Police representative for Sag Harbor, an affluent village on Long Island. He is scheduled to attend a virtual court hearing on July 26, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office said.

The Grammy winner is on the Forget Tomorrow World Tour, supporting his latest album, “Everything I Thought It Was,” and makes his next stop in Chicago on Friday.

Timberlake’s attorney Edward Burke Jr. declined to comment, and other representatives for Timberlake did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The entertainer has admitted to drinking excessively in the past. In 2019, he apologized for his “major error of judgment” in a now-deleted Instagram post after a video showed him stumbling while holding hands with “Palmer” co-star Alisha Wainwright: “I drank far too much that night and I apologize for my behavior.”

In a 2014 interview revisited on “Oprah’s Master Class: The Podcast,” he mentioned that he once drank “an entire bottle of whiskey” after audience members threw bottles at him and the other artists onstage during a performance.

Timberlake began campaigning against drunk driving in 2002, the Associated Press reported. When a fan waiting for a performance was hit by a pickup truck, the artist said in a statement that the tragedy “shows the horrors of drunk driving.”

Timberlake first rose to fame as a child star, most notably in “The All New Mickey Mouse Club” alongside Britney Spears, Ryan Gosling and Christina Aguilera. He dominated pop music in the late 1990s and early 2000s with hits like “Bye Bye Bye” and “I Want You Back” as part of NSYNC before launching a solo career in 2002.
