There is an emergency call failure in Massachusetts, several police and fire departments announced on Tuesday.

It was not immediately clear what caused the outage, but police in Boston, Worcester, Medford and Malden and fire departments in Brockton and Hanson shared information about the outage. Authorities urged people needing help to call their local fire department number.

“9/11 is currently out nationwide,” Boston Police said in a statement. “If you have an emergency, please call a fire station.”

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu mentioned the power outage at the start of her press conference to mark the Boston Celtics’ NBA championship parade on Tuesday afternoon, saying, “We are in contact with the state and all appropriate authorities to work to resolve the issue.”
