Four people were arrested Monday for assaulting two on-duty NYPD officers from the 114th Precinct in Astoria.

Shortly before 4:30 a.m., officers encountered a group of rioters outside a migrant shelter in Long Island City. Police are still searching for others involved in the attack.

Officers pulled up to the Wingate by Wyndham hotel at 38-70 12th Street, across from the Queensbridge Houses on 40th Avenue, at 4:20 a.m. They were attempting to disperse the unruly mob when it began throwing various objects at the two officers, hitting them multiple times.

The two police officers suffered injuries to the head and back while the gang dispersed and ran away in an unknown direction.

An NYPD spokeswoman could not confirm whether the people arrested and the suspects still at large were residents of the hotel, which was converted into a migrant shelter in February 2023.

The injured officers were taken to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, where their condition was listed as stable.

The NYPD released surveillance images Tuesday showing two of the suspects, who are still at large and are described as having medium skin. The man was wearing a blue polo shirt with a multi-colored Polo logo on the chest, and the woman had long black hair and was wearing a black sweatshirt.
