91-year-old Florida woman ‘sexually abused’ at home by 14-year-old neighborhood boy – ‘disturbing’ attack

In Florida, a teenager was arrested after shockingly attacking a defenseless 91-year-old woman in her own home in the middle of the night.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MSCO) said the elderly woman was awakened around midnight on June 9. When someone was discovered lurking in her Reddick home, she was beaten and sexually assaulted, according to a sheriff’s press release.

The victim was later taken to the hospital after suffering swelling and bruising to her face and body. She told investigators the suspect “jumped” on her and punched her in the face. She was sexually assaulted before the suspect fled, the affidavit states.

As WKMG News 6 reported, officials announced that 14-year-old Jesse Stone was arrested in connection with the robbery and charged with sexual abuse and burglary. The affidavit states: “The victim later stated that the day before the incident, a neighborhood juvenile named ‘Randy John’ (later identified as the defendant Jesse Stone) came to her home and spoke to her.

“She stated that the defendant had not come over to talk to her in some time, but that he had done so more frequently when he was younger. She described the defendant as a ‘good’ boy, but she did not know anything about the other people he hung out with.”

The sheriff’s office said that later that day, Stone approached detectives as they canvassed the area and told them that a neighbor had “found something” on surveillance footage that he was eager to show them. After reviewing it, detectives noticed a “figure” that resembled Stone the night before jogging by.

The teen initially denied being the person in the video, but DNA evidence pointed to his involvement in the attack. Detectives found Stone at North Marion High School on June 13 and took him in for questioning. He admitted to entering the woman’s home to view pornography before going into her bedroom and attacking her.

After his arrest, Stone was transferred to the juvenile justice system. Sheriff Billy Woods said, “I told everyone last week that we would find the person responsible, and we did. I am very proud of the hard work my detectives and forensics team did on this case to achieve a quick resolution. This type of unimaginable violence still shocks me after all my years in law enforcement. The community of Reddick has shown resilience and support for us and their community throughout all of this time. I also want to thank all of the citizens who have provided us with tips and leads on this case.”

He added: “It was a shock that someone would commit such an act against a 91-year-old, but it is really disturbing when we see the young age of the man arrested. While I firmly believe he should be held accountable for his crime, as a father my sympathies go out to his family. Hopefully his arrest will lead to him receiving help to prevent further acts of this kind.”
