Alabama man killed in crash on I-20 in Aiken County

AIKEN COUNTY, SC (WJBF) – An early morning accident claimed the life of an Alabama man in Aiken County.

Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables told us the accident happened around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Emmanuel D. Jones, 28, of Montgomery, was driving a 2005 Kenworth semi-trailer truck west on I-20 near mile marker 35 when he suffered a flat tire.

This caused the truck to veer off the left side of the highway and crash into the tree line. Jones was reportedly thrown from the truck.

His death was pronounced at the scene.

The Aiken County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate the accident.

Jones is later autopsied in Newberry.
