Kewanee man arrested on child pornography charges after cyber tip

A cyber tip led to the arrest of a Kewanee man for possession of child pornography, according to a news release from Kewanee Police.

The department’s investigative division analyzed a cyber tip from the Attorney General’s Office through the Illinois Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC), resulting in the arrest of Matthew C. Derr, 31, of Kewanee, for possession of child pornography, a Class 2 felony. A Class 2 felony is punishable by three to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections and carries a mandatory fine of between $1,000 and $100,000, the release said.

Derr was released under Safe T Act guidelines and will appear at the Henry County Courthouse in Cambridge on June 3.
