Name of boat trailer accident announced in which 1 person died

MEADE COUNTY SD (KELO) – A woman has died after a pontoon boat on a trailer broke loose from a truck driving in front of her.

Carol Olson, 83, died from her injuries while traveling south on SD Highway 79 when a truck traveling north in the opposite lane, pulling a boat on a trailer, collided with her vehicle. The safety chains failed to control the boat and trailer and they ended up in the southbound ditch.

The driver of the truck was not injured. The accident remains under investigation by the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
