NYPD officers attacked outside migrant shelter in Queens

NEW YORK (1010 WIN/WCBS 880) – Police are searching for two suspects after NYPD officers were attacked during a confrontation with a “disorderly” crowd outside a Long Island City migrant shelter on Monday morning.

The New York Police Department released photos of the duo, who are wanted for assault on a police officer, on Tuesday.

The two officers encountered the “disorderly group” at around 4:20 a.m. Monday morning in front of the Wingate by Wyndham hotel on 12th Street, which serves as a shelter for migrants.

The group attacked the officers and threw “various objects” at them, repeatedly punched them and inflicted injuries on their heads and backs, police said.

The circumstances that led to the group attack were initially unknown.

The officers were taken to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition.
