State Police investigate road rage incident on State Route 1 – Delaware State Police

Delaware State Police are investigating a road rage incident that occurred Saturday night in the Smyrna area.

On June 15, 2024, at approximately 10:21 p.m., a 30-year-old woman from Chester, Pennsylvania was traveling northbound in the right lane on State Route 1 (Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway). A white SUV began drifting into her lane. To avoid a collision, the victim honked and continued driving. The unknown driver of the SUV responded aggressively by tailgating her, driving parallel to her vehicle, flashing his high beams, and shouting obscenities out the window.

As the vehicles continued north, the suspect briefly pulled over to the right shoulder and allowed the victim to pass. The suspect then moved back into the right lane and fired shots at her vehicle before fleeing the scene near exit 119. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The suspect vehicle is described as a white SUV, possibly a GMC Yukon.

The Delaware State Police 2nd Troop Criminal Investigation Division is continuing its investigation and is asking anyone who witnessed this incident or has relevant information to contact Detective D.
