Death investigations underway in Lehigh Acres

Lee County officials are investigating a death in Lehigh Acres Monday morning. The sheriff’s office says one person is dead and their identity has not been released. Officers arrived on the scene at 1 a.m. at Darlington Street and Eisenhower Boulevard. Police officers and investigators could be seen around the driveway where a body was found between a black SUV and the garage door of a home. Yellow crime scene tape was visible around the home throughout the day. The LCSO Mobile Command Center and crime scene investigators are on the scene, retrieving boxes of cardboard and documents from the garage. Neighbors tell NBC2 that officers have been near the home since Thursday. “I heard the neighbors in our community were missing for about a week and then last week.” “My cousin said she saw them leaving together and then we didn’t think anything of it but then about the end of the week, other than Thursday, we saw community units checking on them and then Friday that’s when officers were deployed and today we wake up at the scene,” says Aaliyah Hale. Hale says a couple lived there who were in their 30s or so. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is calling this an active but isolated incident. Officers used drones and surrounded the home while a black SUV was towed out of the driveway with an escort of officers. Neighbors say they saw the woman who lived there driving the SUV. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office told us Tuesday morning they are awaiting autopsy results. The LCSO says they will provide more updates on Tuesday as we work to determine who the victim is. Police officers and investigators could be seen surrounding the driveway where a body was found between a black SUV and the garage door of a home.

Yellow tape was visible around the house all day.

The LCSO mobile command center and crime scene investigators are on site and are retrieving boxes of cardboard and documents from the garage.

Neighbors told NBC2 that officers had been near the house since Thursday.

“I heard that neighbors in our community were missing for about a week and then last week. My cousin said she saw them leaving together and then we didn’t think anything of it, but towards the end of the week, other than Thursday, we saw community units checking on them and then on Friday the officers were deployed and today we wake up to the crime scene,” says Aaliyah Hale.

Hale says a couple in their thirties lived there.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office described this as an active but isolated incident.

Officers deployed drones and surrounded the house while a black SUV accompanied by an officer was towed out of the driveway.

Neighbors say they saw the woman who lives there driving the SUV.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office told us Tuesday morning that they are awaiting autopsy results.

LCSO says further updates will be released Tuesday as efforts are made to determine the victim’s identity.
