According to OSHP, a 2015 Jeep Wrangler traveling south on West River Road left the right side of the road and struck a storm drain cover.

“The Jeep was thrown through the air and rolled over several times before striking a large flower bed, a fence post and a tree. The Jeep eventually came to a stop on a private driveway on the west side of West River Road,” the Ohio State Highway Patrol said in a press release.

The driver, who authorities say was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. He has since been identified as 37-year-old Shane Webb of Willard.

According to initial investigations, officers suspect that alcohol, drugs and speed were the causes of the accident.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Huron County Sheriff’s Office, Wakeman Fire Department, Wakeman Police Department, Citizens Ambulance and Interstate Towing.

The crash is currently still under investigation.
