TRAFFIC ALERT: Due to an accident, the northbound lanes of I-69 are closed near Bissonnet

HOUSTON (KIAH) — An accident on the Southwest Freeway near Bissonnet Street forced the closure of all city-bound lanes Tuesday morning.

Houston police and firefighters were called to the scene of the accident around 2:40 a.m. Tuesday morning. A red Toyota Tacoma pickup truck and a semi-trailer truck were at the scene.

What exactly happened and whether there were any fatalities is not yet known.

Meanwhile, traffic has been backed up in the northbound lanes of I-69 since 6:30 a.m. to Wilcrest Avenue and Murphy Road.

The entrance to the HOV lane is still open and should be used during the accident investigation.
