The obituary of the old rose (2024)

OLD ROSE, The – The Old Pink, of Allentown, entered eternal rest on June 17, 2024 after sustaining significant damage from smoke accumulation and burns. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation

Considered an iconic landmark in the Buffalo area for more than 40 years, it is survived by countless people who left unforgettable memories there. Regulars and friends of The Old Pink can visit 223 ALLEN ST in Buffalo, NY, reflecting the legacy, at any time to pay their respects.

Run by Molly Brinkworth for more than three decades, The Old Pink’s early friends know it by many nicknames, including “The Pink Flamingo,” “The Pink” and others. On the surface, many people’s first impression of The Old Pink was as a dark, dreary, and grimy place. However, once neighbors got to know The Old Pink for what it really was, many people described it as a type of house.

“It was the first place you wanted to cheer at home on Thanksgiving, or the perfect place to have a steak sandwich on Christmas Eve,” said Brinkworth’s daughter, Colleen Evans. “The place you can always count on to meet or make new friends, for all generations to enjoy.”

The Old Pink may have been characterized by those things, including its delicious steak sandwiches, but it was truly a place where people gathered and came together as a unique blend of family.

Whatever memories you have of your time at The Old Pink, most Western New Yorkers have one or more stories they can share over the years.

Friends and neighbors of The Old Pink are invited to share their favorite photos over the years or by strolling around the corner of Allen and Mariner streets and lighting a candle in memory of the bar.

In lieu of flowers, Colleen Evans asks that people consider supporting the GoFundMe, created to help the emerging situation this was imposed on the owner, the staff and the difficulties ahead for The Old Pink.
