Two dead in plane crash in Steamboat Springs en route to Ogden

SALT LAKE CITY — A twin-engine Cessna 421 aircraft crashed into the West Acres mobile home park in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, engulfing two buildings and “several outbuildings” in a fire that required a full shift of on-duty and several off-duty firefighters to fight the fire.

In a post shared on Facebook, Steamboat Springs Police confirmed that the two occupants, a pilot and a passenger, were killed in the crash.

At the time of writing, the identities of the aircraft’s occupants were not yet known.

A statement from the Steamboat Springs Fire Department said the plane was probably en route from Longmont, Colorado, to Ogden.

According to the fire department, the cause of the crash is still being investigated.

Department officials say calls came in and rescue crews were dispatched around 4:30 p.m. Monday. All residents of the park are safe and sound.
