Teenager commits suicide after being sexually assaulted by four men in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh | Latest India News

A 23-year-old man committed suicide after he was allegedly sexually assaulted by a group of four acquaintances in Gorakhpur, PTI reported, citing officials. The victim knew one of them through social media, the report said.

A 23-year-old man committed suicide after allegedly being sexually assaulted by a group of four acquaintances in Gorakhpur.

Three of the accused were arrested by police on Saturday, while efforts to locate the fourth suspect are ongoing.

The attack reportedly took place in a hotel on Thursday. The perpetrators filmed the attack and demanded money from the victim, threatening to publish the video online if their demands were not met.

On Friday, police filed an FIR under sections 377 (unnatural offences), 384 (extortion), 506 (criminal intimidation) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code.

Hours later, the victim allegedly committed suicide. Family members found the body on Saturday morning. The man lived with his brother in a rented apartment and was preparing for entrance exams, said Superintendent of Police (North) Jitendra Kumar Srivastava.

The FIR has been filed against Karan alias Ashutosh Mishra (26), a resident of Chiluatal, Devesh Rajnand (24), who currently resides on the BRD Medical College campus and originally hails from Piprauli, Angad Kumar (21), a resident of Chiluatal, and Mohan Prajapati (20), who is still at large.

According to police, the victim was allegedly sexually assaulted after being held hostage in a hotel room in the Chiluatal area. The four men allegedly beat him with a belt.

The Superintendent of Police (North) said the victim had contacted one Karan through a social media platform a month ago. Eventually, Karan invited him to his home in Chiluatal. Karan allegedly took Aditya to a hotel in Rail Vihar, Chiluatal on Thursday, where they were joined by three of Karan’s accomplices, he added. The accused also allegedly accessed the victim’s phone and made transactions through UPI and bought beer after the attack.
