EMSA issues first medical heat alert of the year | News

TULSA, Oklahoma – With temperatures rising, EMSA issued its first medical heat warning of the year, but that didn’t stop Tulsa residents from getting outside this weekend.

FOX23 captured video of people visiting wading pools and biking at Turkey Mountain on Sunday.

On Sunday it was still quite hot and temperatures rose to over 30 degrees.

EMSA issues a heat alert when paramedics respond to five or more calls for heat-related illnesses within 24 hours.

On Friday, paramedics responded to five emergency calls and took four people to the hospital.

According to EMSA, you should make sure to drink plenty of water, wear light, loose-fitting clothing and carry a mobile phone with you when outdoors.

The heat warning lasts until Monday.
