1 dead in car crash near Cook County Jail

At least one person was killed and several others injured in an accident Sunday morning near the Cook County Jail.

Shortly after 5 a.m., two vehicles collided in the 2600 block of South California Avenue, according to Chicago police.

One of the passengers was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

According to police, several other people were injured.

The Chicago Police Department’s Major Injury Unit is investigating the accident.
