Man responsible for car thefts in Henry County arrested

HENRY COUNTY, Virginia. – A man responsible for two car thefts in Henry County was taken into custody Thursday, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said they were notified at approximately 9:08 a.m. that someone had stolen a blue 2012 Subaru Abreeza from a Family Dollar store on Virginia Avenue in Collinsville. At 9:18 a.m., the theft of a white 2010 Toyota Prius was reported from Printers Lane in Collinsville.

Witnesses to both incidents gave similar descriptions of the suspect.

We’re told the Sheriff’s Office recovered the stolen Abreeza at the Collinsville Library around 9:44 a.m. Thursday. While officers were securing the vehicle, an employee at Auto Tech in Collinsville reported that a suspect matching the description had parked a white Toyota Prius at that location and fled on foot across the street to an Econo Lodge on Virginia Avenue.

Authorities responded to both crime scenes and the stolen Prius was found at Auto Tech, while the suspect, 42-year-old Deangelo Waller, was found in a restricted area of ​​the motel.

He was taken into custody without incident and charged with two counts of grand larceny.

He is currently being held without bail at the Henry County Adult Detention Center.
