UPDATE: Alleged rapist now in custody

BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A suspected rapist has turned himself in to police.

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office posted on social media on Thursday, June 13, that 26-year-old Brennan Haggstrom had warrants for his arrest for rape, assault and indecent conduct.

According to court documents, Haggstrom attacked and raped a person he knew in a home near Cain Lake in February.

Haggstrom met with investigators on June 3 but refused to speak unless an attorney was present.

Detectives later gave him until June 5 to turn himself in, but Haggstrom ignored the request.

According to police records, Haggstrom turned himself into custody shortly before 5 p.m. on Thursday.
