2 people in hospital, possible car accident under the influence of alcohol on Panama Lane in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 11, 2024) – Two people were injured in a suspected drunk driving accident at Panama Lane and Sparks Street.

According to Bakersfield Police, the two-car crash occurred around 10 p.m. on Sunday. For unknown reasons, two cars collided, causing one vehicle to catch fire. Bakersfield Police and paramedics arrived shortly afterward and found both drivers with moderate injuries.

According to an investigation, officers believe alcohol played a role, but were unable to accurately test both drivers for drunk driving.

At this time, blood tests are pending and Bakersfield Police have not confirmed if drunk driving played a role in the accident. If anyone has any additional information regarding this accident, please call Bakersfield Police.
