2 dead after suspected murder-suicide in New Jersey apartment

Authorities in New Jersey are investigating suspected murder-suicide after discovering the bodies of two people in a Gloucester County home.

Clayton Police officers were alerted to a possible domestic incident at the Academy Arms Apartments along North Broad Street on Tuesday evening where shots were fired, according to a statement from authorities.

When they arrived at the residence around 7 p.m., first responders discovered two people, a man and a woman, with fatal gunshot wounds.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene. The victims were only a 45-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman. None of their names have been released.

“The initial investigation indicates this was a murder-suicide,” Clayton police said.

Authorities currently suspect the deadly violence was due to a domestic conflict and do not currently believe there is a threat to the public. No further details were disclosed.

An investigation into the matter is ongoing and anyone with information relevant to the case has been asked to call Clayton police.
