GAMLS: Median home sales price rises again in May

The median sales price of a home in Atlanta continued to rise in May, climbing 2.3% month over month, from $405,000 to $414,200. That’s up 3.6% from last year’s $400,000 level, according to the latest Georgia MLS 12-county housing market snapshot.

By unit, sales volume increased 7.8%, from 5,283 homes sold in April to 5,693 homes in May. Year over year, sales were down 2.6% from 5,844 properties. In dollar terms, sales increased 9.4% and 0.1% month-over-month and year-over-year, to $2.9 billion.

New listings jumped 5.2% month-over-month and 24.5% year-over-year to 9,467. Active listings, meanwhile, increased 13%. on a monthly basis and 64.7% on an annual basis, to 15,448.

The 12-county Georgia MLS report includes Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Dekalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding and Rockdale counties.
