Two men booked into McDonough County Jail after Friday’s shooting in Macomb – Muddy River News

MACOMB, Illinois – Two men were arrested Friday for their alleged involvement in a shooting.

Macomb/McDonough County Emergency Services received a report of a shooting that occurred at 1501 E. Murray in Macomb at 10:56 a.m. on Friday, June 7. Macomb Police Patrol officers arrived on the scene and found several people outside the residence. Officers arrested two adult males and learned that no one was injured in the shooting.

The Macomb Police Department’s Investigations Division initiated the investigation and preliminary findings indicate that two adult males were involved in a domestic violence incident outside of the residence which resulted in one of the adult males retrieving a firearm from a concealed location and firing one shot at the other adult male.

A search warrant was executed for the property and a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol was seized.

The two adult males were identified as Courtney L. Hayes, 33, of Macomb and Caleb K. Lane, 35, of Sikeston, Missouri. Hayes was arrested and charged with domestic violence. Lane was arrested and charged with aggravated unlawful discharge of a firearm. Both men are being held in the McDonough County Jail awaiting a detention hearing.

Macomb Police were assisted by Illinois State Police Patrol 4 and the McDonough County District Attorney’s Office.
