2 schoolgirls raped; accused arrested

UDHAMPUR, June 8: Two minor girls were allegedly raped in Chattrari area of ​​Ramnagar last night while returning home from a school picnic.
Police reacted quickly and arrested the accused, who were absconding after committing the crime. They were identified as Dalip Kumar, son of Ramesh Kumar of Panchound and Ravinder Kumar, son of Bansi Lal of Panchound, Tehsil Ramnagar, Udhampur district.
According to police, information was received at the Ramnagar police station that the two minor girls – aged 16 and 17 – were abducted by the two accused on their way home from the school picnic last night and taken to the nearby jungle where they were raped. After committing the crime, both the accused fled the scene.
Based on this information, a case bearing FIR No. 62/2024 was registered under relevant sections of the law at Ramnagar Police Station and a police team from Ramnagar Station rushed to the crime scene where the two girls were found unconscious this morning.
Police took the injured girls to Ramnagar Sub District Hospital for medical treatment and sent teams to various suspected locations to arrest the accused.
Subsequently, a police team led by SHO Ramnagar, SD Singh managed to arrest both the accused within 24 hours of the commission of the crime. Further investigation in the case is on.
