Several arrests after incident in Fuma Dubai – BPD officer attacked

At midnight on Saturday, June 8, 2024, Beaumont Police Department officers responded to a call for assistance from the Beaumont Independent School District Police Department at 4438 Dowlen Fuma Dubai. BISD PD officers had reported a large altercation involving armed suspects. They had already deployed pepper spray to bring the situation under control and reported that a suspect had attempted to grab a BISD officer’s firearm. Upon arrival, BPD officers were directed to multiple suspects and vehicles involved. While attempting to apprehend the suspect who had attempted to take the firearm from the BISD officer, the subject resisted arrest and assaulted a BPD officer by punching and kicking him. The suspect, identified as Keadrain Corbin, a 23-year-old Beaumont resident, was subsequently arrested for attempted disarming of a police officer, assault on a police officer, and resisting arrest. In addition, BISD PD officers arrested two other individuals for illegal possession of weapons: Jonah Mitchell, a 26-year-old Beaumont resident, and Kito Simpson, an 18-year-old Port Arthur resident. Two firearms were confiscated and the investigation is ongoing. The injured BPD officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment and released several hours later.
