Barn fire in Ridgefield claims life of 44-year-old woman; investigation ongoing

PORTLAND, Oregon (KOIN) – Authorities have determined the identity of the 44-year-old woman who was shot and killed in a Barn fire in Ridgefield early Monday morning.

Firefighters discovered Melissa Adams’ body after extinguishing flames that had completely engulfed the building at 29416 NW 51st Avenue and spread to a nearby mobile home.

When officers arrived at 7 a.m., passersby told firefighters that Adams was still in the building.

Another resident on site had to be restrained as he tried to run into the burning building. Officials said the severity of the fire “would have resulted in certain death to anyone who went in without protective equipment.”
