12 arrests after fights at Gloucester Township Day event

A dozen people were arrested after several fights broke out at Veterans’ Memorial Park during Gloucester Township Day on Saturday night.

According to police, many young people gathered in large groups while families waited for a drone light show to begin.

At around 8:40 p.m., some groups got into a scuffle. Two arrests were made, but the crowd continued to behave disorderly.

Authorities said the drone light show was launched earlier “due to the unpredictable situation.”

Some people in the crowd, wearing black clothes and covering their faces with hoodies, walked to a nearby shopping center where more fighting broke out.

Police determined that most of the youths were not from Gloucester Township and had been dropped off at the event.

According to authorities, a 33-year-old man from Camden also rode his bicycle into a group of police officers who were attempting to disperse a crowd. One officer fell and suffered minor injuries.

Two adults and ten teenagers were arrested following the incident.
