Cumberland police arrest two people in armed robbery

CUMBERLAND, MD – A man and a woman were arrested Thursday evening following a reported armed robbery at a residence on Hilltop Drive.

At approximately 7:11 p.m., Cumberland Police arrived at the scene. The victim reported that her purse had been stolen at knifepoint by two suspects, later identified as William Mosher III, 32, of Ridgeley, WV, and Ashley Grove, 22, of Cumberland, MD. The suspects fled the scene on foot, but were soon tracked down and arrested by police. The stolen purse was also found nearby and recovered.

After further investigation, Mosher and Grove were arrested and transported to Central Booking. Mosher is being held at the Allegany County Detention Center awaiting a bail hearing, while Grove was transferred to the same facility on $5,000 bail.

Both suspects face charges including first- and second-degree assault, armed robbery, robbery, reckless endangerment, theft of less than $100, false imprisonment and threatening to commit arson.
