Kinston man charged with identity theft

KINSTON, NC (WNCT) — A Kinston man was arrested by Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office detectives in connection with an identity theft.

On Thursday, officers responded to Foss Auto Salvage, 7135 Hwy 70. West, shortly after 1:30 p.m. They discovered and recovered evidence that led to the arrest of 41-year-old Jason Eugene Smith on a felony charge before police.

Smith was arrested and taken to the Lenoir County Detention Center where he was charged with false pretenses and identity theft. He was granted bail.
