17-year-old arrested after shooting in Troup

TROUP, Texas – A 17-year-old boy was arrested Saturday after multiple agencies responded to a shooting in the Troup area.

Latravion Dewberry, 17, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the incident Saturday morning, Troup police said.

Police said officers, along with surrounding agencies and Smith County officials, quickly responded to reports of shots fired and quickly located several people involved in the incident at a residence near Railroad Street.

While questioning the suspects, police say they discovered important information and possible evidence of criminal activity in Smith County. During a search of the area, several firearms were discovered.

Dewberry was later arrested in connection with the shooting. The investigation is ongoing as additional suspects may be arrested and charges filed against him.
