Man with long criminal past arrested after fleeing from police

FARGO/WEST FARGO, ND (KVRR/KFGO) – Police say a Mapleton man with a long criminal history intentionally hit a person with his car and fled from police into the Sheyenne River in West Fargo.

Fargo Police responded shortly before 1:30 p.m. this afternoon to a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a car.

The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers identified the driver as 37-year-old Nicholas Bruesch.

West Fargo police found Bruesch and his vehicle near Cargill around 3:30 p.m. and attempted to stop him.

He sped away, eventually abandoning his vehicle in an alley near South Elementary and walking away.

Bruesch was later arrested for reckless endangerment.
