According to the police report, the woman told officers at the hospital that she was driving her car down Holly Street when someone in a dark-colored vehicle shot at her.

The Bridgeport Police Department Detective Bureau is leading the investigation. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Det. Matthew Goncalves at 203-581-5240 or the department’s tip line at 203-576-TIPS.

The incident was one of several shootings that occurred Saturday night into Sunday morning. Police said two of them, which occurred on the city’s west side, appear unrelated to the Holly Street shooting.

According to police, there were additional shootings overnight, with three men shot at the PT Barnum Housing complex: one at 8:10 p.m. Saturday in Building 6, a second at 10:50 p.m. Saturday in Building 17, and a third at 2:30 a.m. Sunday on the basketball court. All three shootings resulted in non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said they were also investigating a serious injury shooting on Ezra Street at 11:05 p.m. in which a man suffered a gunshot wound to the groin area.

“We have several injured people and are doing everything in our power to support them and their loved ones during this difficult time,” Bridgeport Police Chief Roderick Porter said in a statement. “We want to assure the residents of Bridgeport that we are fully committed to finding those responsible for these senseless acts of violence.”

Porter added that police have increased patrols in the affected areas and are “working around the clock to gather information and follow up on leads.” In addition, they are “actively taking witness statements and reviewing all available evidence.”
