1 dead after T-Bones car pickup in South Cheyenne

According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, a 65-year-old Colorado woman was killed in a T-bone accident in southern Cheyenne on Saturday afternoon, May 4.

The accident occurred at the intersection of College Drive and South Greeley Highway around 4:18 p.m.

According to a summary of the fatal crashes, a Toyota Tacoma was traveling west on College Drive when an oncoming Ford Taurus attempted to turn left to head north on South Greeley Highway and the Tacoma made a T-bend onto the Passenger side of the Taurus hit.

Both drivers and a passenger escaped the accident, but Crystal Regalado, a passenger in the Taurus, died from her injuries.

No possible influencing factors are listed in the summary.

This is the 25th reported fatality on Wyoming highways this year.

Of those fatalities, five, or 20%, died in accidents in or near Cheyenne.

Although car accidents can occur anywhere, some roads in Wyoming are more dangerous than others.

According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, there were 117 fatal crashes in the Cowboy State in 2022, resulting in 133 deaths.

Most of these fatal crashes (13.68%) occurred in Laramie County – two in January, one in February, one in March, two in April, one in June, two in July, three in August, two in September, one in November and one in December.

Sweetwater County had the second most crashes last year with 12, while Fremont and Lincoln counties had 10 each.

Albany and Park counties recorded eight each and Campbell, Converse and Natrona counties recorded seven each.

The deadliest accident of 2022 in Laramie County occurred on June 17, when two semi-trucks collided on Interstate 80 east of Cheyenne and immediately burst into flames, killing both the driver and a passenger.

Laramie County also saw two fatal crashes involving motorcyclists, two fatal crashes involving teenagers and one fatal crash involving a pedestrian last year.
