Man stabbed in neck in downtown Fresno, police say

Police are searching for the man who stabbed a man in the neck in downtown Fresno on Thursday.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) – Police are searching for the man who stabbed a man in the neck in downtown Fresno.

The stabbing occurred shortly after 1 p.m. on Thursday at the corner of Van Ness Avenue and Ventura Avenue.

The victim managed to call 911 and report that he had been stabbed.

According to investigators, the man claimed a stranger approached him from behind, said something he did not understand, and then stabbed him in the neck before running away.

The victim was taken to Community Regional Medical Center and is expected to be OK.

Officers are looking for witnesses and surveillance videos from nearby businesses.
