Missing Dartmouth College student, 26, found dead in Connecticut River

A missing Dartmouth College student has been found dead in the Connecticut River after days of searching.

Kexin Cai, 26, of West Lebanon, New Hampshire, was “last seen in the area of ​​Drake Lane on Wednesday, May 15,” according to the Lebanon Police Department.

Cai was officially reported missing on Friday, May 17, according to Boston.com.

According to FOX affiliate WFXT and CBS affiliate WCAX, a fisherman told police that he found a body on the Connecticut River in Windsor, Vermont around 4 p.m. on Monday, May 20.

The body was brought ashore shortly after 5:30 p.m. and was eventually identified as Cai, WFXT and ABC affiliate WMUR-TV reported.

Police do not suspect any foul play in Cai’s death.

According to the school’s website, Cai was a graduate student in the Mutual Understanding Lab at Dartmouth College.

She was a second-year doctoral student in the Department of Psychology and Brain Sciences, where she researched communication challenges for people with autism, Jon Kull, dean of the Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies, said Sunday, May 19, in a campus-wide email. Droste previously said in a statement to WMUR-TV that Cai had an “uninhibited laugh” and often sang in a different language. He also praised Cai for “her loyalty to her family and those she loves.”
