Pedestrian struck and killed near East Chestnut Hill and Salem Church streets in Newark, Delaware

NEWARK, Del. (WPVI) — Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred Monday evening in New Castle County.

It happened near East Chestnut Hill and Salem Church streets in Newark.

According to police, the victim was hit by a large truck, which was badly damaged after the collision.

According to state police, East Chestnut Road is closed at Salem Church Road due to the crash.

There is still no information about what led to the crash. The police have not yet identified the victim either.
